“Amazing opportunity” as Warrington chosen as base for regional teaching school hub

WARRINGTON has an “amazing opportunity” after being selected as regional teaching school hub.

As previously reported by warrington-worldwide the teaching school hub programme based at Evelyn Street Primary School will create a network of centres of excellence for teacher training and development.
The new hubs focus on some of the best schools and multi-academy trusts in the country, developing teachers into inspiring leaders and giving pupils access to life-changing opportunities.
The teaching school hub national programme means every school in the country will have greater access to expert teacher training and development. The teaching workforce will get best-practice and expert advice on how best to engage with pupils, lesson planning, classroom management and professional development.
The hubs will also deliver the Early Career Framework reform when this is available in September 2021 and will also deliver a reformed suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) including new specialist NPQs. This comes from £65m of new funding, with the hubs set to run for an initial three years.
The Warrington, Halton and Wigan regional hub will be one of 81 throughout the country. It will be led by Evelyn Street Primary school in Warrington and will be responsible for the development of teachers and school leaders across almost 280 schools.
Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT) – in which Evelyn Street Primary School sits – was chosen after a rigorous selection process by the national programme.
Cllr Matt Smith, cabinet member for children’s services said: “This is an amazing opportunity that will bring real benefits to our schools, teachers and pupils, meaning that all local schools will now have access to a centre of excellence for training.
“This is an investment in our teachers, the quality of teaching and ultimately allows each of our children to receive a world-class start in life, with a quality education.
“Our thanks go to WPAT for their efforts in leading the bid to bring a teaching hub to Warrington, and we look forward to supporting our local schools through this initiative.”
