Delays of up to 100 minutes after M56 closed following serious collision

DELAYS of up to 100 minutes were being reported on the M56 near Daresbury, Warrington this morning following a serious road traffic collision.

The M56 eastbound between junctions 12 (Liverpool Airport, Runcorn, Widnes) and 11 (Runcorn East, Warrington) was closed following a ‘serious collision’ at around 6.40am this morning.

Emergency services attended at the scene as vehicles were recovered and surface water, due to significant rainfall at junction 12, was being cleared.

Queues of up to nine miles were bring reported with delays of up 100 minutes back to junction 15.

Traffic is being allowed to leave the motorway at junction 12 via the hard shoulder.
