Two more deaths, 244 new COVID-19 cases and more than 200 patients in hospital as cases continue to rise

SADLY two more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported at Warrington & Halton Hospitals where inpatient numbers have risen to more than 200 for the first time, as new cases continue an upward trend.

A total of 244 (193) new COVID-19 cases have been reported by Public Health England today, taking the total reported in Warrington, since the start of the pandemic, to 13,278 (13,034).
The number of inpatient numbers at the hospital has also risen above more than 200 for the first time, at 204, with 122 of them from the Warrington area – also a new high.

Cases in Warrington for the last seven days, previous days/updates in brackets, are 1,698 (1,639) – 808.5 (780.4) per 100,000 population – continuing an upward trend.

Covid-19 positive inpatients 204 (194) of which 122 (115) are Warrington residents – of which 26 (26) are in ICU

Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 1209 (1194)

*The highest number COVID-19 positive inpatients during the first wave was on 12th April with 124 patients of which 18 were in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 340 (337) 161.9 per 100,000 population.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England is 383 (383).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Wednesday, January 13 was 1,564 (1,243), taking the total number of deaths to 84,767 (83,203).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 47,525 (45,533), taking the total number to 3,211,576 (3,164,051).
Across the country, there are 36,489 (35,075) patients currently in hospital and 3,496 (3,363) patients in ventilator beds.
