VIDEO:THE rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme started in Warrington last night when former GP Dr Phillip Leech, age 98, was the first patient to receive a vaccine.

There was never any doubt in the retired doctor’s mind about getting the vaccine and he believes the more people who get it, the better to help build up overall immunity.
Dr Leech from Walton, Warrington, was supported by members of his family, including GP daughter Dr Rebecca Leech and he will return to the hub in 21 days for a booster jab.
The vaccination took place at Orford Jubilee Hub and was organised by NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group who have said a huge thank you to the amazing staff on the frontline and behind the scenes who are working incredibly hard to support the rollout of the vaccine.
While the rollout of the vaccine is “great news” are being urged not to contact your surgery yet about getting the vaccine as the NHS will let you know when it’s your turn to get vaccinated.
The vaccine was administered by Dr Laura Mount, a GP at Folly Lane Medical Centre who is also a clinical director of the Central and West Warrington Primary Care Network.
