TOP bowlers will be competing at the Kevin and Ken Wightman Memorial Men’s Open at Monks Sport & Social Club, Woolston, Warrington, over the weekend of April 25th and 26th.
The event has been organised by Mike Wightman in memory of his late brother Kevn and father Ken, helping raise funds for cancer charities.
Mike’s brother Kev sadly died from pancreatic cancer, and since his death, his sister-in-law has been diagnosed with breast cancer, while Mike has had prostate cancer – thankfully, both are in remission. All monies raised from raffles over the weekend will be split equally between Macmillan Nurses, Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer charities.
Top players competing at the event include Lee Johnstone, the 2025 Waterloo Cup winner, former Waterloo Cup champion Tommy Johnstone, Andrew Wightman, 2025 ODay Troph winner, Matt Gillmore, 2025 Waterloo Cup runner-up, Ste Glover, 2025 Bull’s Head invittation winner, Alan Manual, 2025, Lancashire Merit winner, and Danny Roberts, the 2025 Padgate Floodlit winner.
Following the weekend events, the final involving the last 16 will take place on Saturday, May 2nd .
Total prize money is £2020, with £500 for the winner and £250 for the runner-up. The event has been sponsored by Grange Valley Amusements and Sigma Solutions Ltd.
