A shoplifter who was caught on CCTV carrying out a “glam apocalypse” stealing health and beauty products from a Tesco Express store in Warrington has appeared in court.

Christopher Emery, aged 50, of Boydell Avenue, Warrington, was charged with theft after stealing £142 worth of health and beauty products from the Tesco Express store on Knutsford Road, Warrington, on Saturday, 21 March.
He appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 30 March and was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
He had been arrested by the Warrington South beat team on suspicion of theft after wandering into the Tesco Express and taking the phrase “treat yourself” a bit too literally, stuffing his backpack with beauty products like what police described as “prepping for a glam apocalypse”.
CCTV caught the whole routine, a submission to facial recognition completed the look as colleagues in Warrington Central identified him.
