Marathon runner supports man in crisis on way to completing 24-hour charity run for Mayor's charities

MARATHON runner Chris Ball showed the true spirit of humanity during his 24-hour charity run supporting the Mayor’s charities, as he went to the aid of a man in crisis during the night at Orford Park.

During his run around Orford Park, which had started earlier in the day at Warrington Park Run, he came across a man in crisis and spent two hours providing support until the emergency services arrived.

His efforts have been praised by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr. Mo Hussain, who has thanked everyone who came out to support Chris Ball over the past 24 hours.
Chris completed his extraordinary challenge at 9am today, Sunday, running for a full 24 hours straight and covering an amazing 86 miles.
Cllr Hussain said: “Your encouragement, presence, and support truly made a difference every step of the way.
“But what makes this even more remarkable… At midnight, Chris stopped his run and spent two hours helping a man in crisis, supporting him and staying by his side until emergency services arrived.
“I, along with the Deputy Mayor, witnessed first-hand Chris’s courage, compassion, and selflessness. It was a powerful reminder of what this challenge is really about, people helping people.”
For the past 11 years, Chris has taken on a series of major charity running challenges, raising significant funds for the MS Society in memory of his father. Three of these challenges have involved running continuously for 24 hours around Orford Park – a location with personal significance, as his father was a proud Orford resident.
Chris has been regularly supported during his challenges by Councillor Mo Hussain, the current Mayor of Warrington, who has attended each event to offer encouragement.
Reflecting on this year’s challenge, Chris said: “As part of my challenges, I wanted to thank Councillor Hussain for all the support he has given me over the years by dedicating this 24-hour run to his Mayor’s Charities.”
