A prolific shoplifter who allegedly stole from a Co-op store on six occasions has been arrested and charged following an extensive police investigation at Lymm.

Kane Simmister, aged 24, of Lime Walk, Partington, has been charged with six offences of theft relating to thefts from the Co-op store in Lymm in February and March 2026. He will appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on 22 April 2026.

He was arrested on Monday, this week, March 23rd by officers from the Warrington South beat team.
The suspect had been travelling from Manchester and had no criminal footprint in Cheshire prior to this, meaning there were no local records, links or associates to work from. Officers carried out a series of thorough enquiries, targeting multiple addresses in Manchester, speaking with several individuals and tracking vehicles of interest across the north-west. Combined with PNC checks, ANPR and local authority data, the groundwork ultimately provided the positive ID they needed to secure the arrest.
A police spokesperson said: “The message is clear, we will not tolerate shoplifting or any offence for that matter in Warrington, we will endeavour to bring offenders to justice.”
