VARIOUS restrictions are set to come into force on Sankey Street in Warrington town centre next month, for up to 32 weeks, while highway improvement works take place.
The works, scheduled to start on April 13th, will be done in phases to minimise disruption.

TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:
- Temporarily suspend the Notices/Orders specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in Column 2 of the said Schedule.
- Introduce a prohibition of driving on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in the said Schedule.
- Introduce a clearway on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in the said Schedule.
- Introduce a footway closure on the lengths of footway specified in Schedule 4 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in the said Schedule.
The Order will be effective from 13th April 2026 for 32 weeks, with the works carried out in phases to minimise disruption, as and when signed on site. The alternative routes will be: Bold Street via Springfield Street and Palmyra Square North; Sankey Street via Crosfield Street, Midland Way, Legh Street and vice versa and via Springfield Street and Palmyra Square North; Legh Street via Sankey Street, Crosfield Street, Midland Way, Legh Street and vice versa. The restrictions are required for Highway improvement works.
