POPULAR Warrington PCSO Tony Spruce was given a surprise fond farewell by friends and colleagues at the town’s Living Well Hub, where he was due to hold his last surgery.
Part of the local community for nearly 20 years, Tony, who helped create the Victoria Park Experience (VPX) and Warrington’s Got Talent, was given a send-off by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Mo Hussain.

Cllr Hussain with Tony
Cllr Hussain said: “It is a real pleasure to be here today at the Living Well Hub as we come together for a very special occasion — to celebrate and honour someone who has given so much to our community over the years.
Today, we say thank you to PSCO Tony Spruce.
“Tony, although this is a surprise, it is one that is richly deserved.
“Policing is more than just a job — it is about service, commitment, and care for others. Tony has embodied all of these qualities and more throughout his career. He has been a reassuring presence on our streets, a friendly face in our neighbourhoods, and a trusted figure for so many people across our town.
“What stands out most about Tony is not just the work he has done, but the way he has done it. With kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. He has taken the time to listen, to support, and to build relationships — and that is what truly strengthens a community.
“I’ve personally known Tony for many years, and in that time we’ve shared some serious conversations as well as plenty of good laughs. That, to me, says a lot about the kind of person he is — someone who can be professional and dependable, but also warm, approachable, and full of good humour.
“Over the years, Tony has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Whether supporting local residents, engaging with young people, or helping those most vulnerable, his dedication has made a lasting difference. The impact of his work will be felt for many years to come.
“As Mayor, and on behalf of the whole community, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude. We are incredibly fortunate to have had someone like Tony serving our town.
“Tony, your commitment, your professionalism, and your humanity have set a standard that is truly inspiring. You leave behind not just a role, but a legacy of trust, respect, and community spirit.
“As you retire, we hope you take with you a great sense of pride in everything you have achieved — and we wish you all the very best for the future. May this next chapter be filled with happiness, good health, and well-earned rest.
“Thank you, Tony, for everything you have done.
“And finally, to everyone here today — thank you for coming to celebrate a truly remarkable individual.”
