POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal collision at Penketh, Warrington, on Saturday afternoon, which sadly claimed the life of an 88-year-old man.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following the incident shortly after 4.20 pm on Saturday, 14 March, when police were called to a collision on Penketh Road, Great Sankey.
Officers attended the scene and found that a silver Ford Transit Custom van had collided with a stationary black Audi A3.
Sadly, the driver of the van, an 88-year-old man from Widnes, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The Audi was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, has any dashcam footage of the incident, or any other information which could aid their investigation to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Amy Hollis, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing, and we are now looking to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened.
“The same goes for anyone who may have any dashcam footage which could help our investigation.
