UPDATED: POLICE have sadly confirmed the death of a pedestrian following a serious road traffic collision between junctions 21 and 21A on the M6 near the Thelwall Viaduct, Warrington.
Road closures were in place northbound near Thelwall Viaduct between junctions 21–21A and 28–30 while emergency services worked at the scene.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson confirmed: “At around 2.50am today, Saturday 7 March, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the M6 between junctions 21 and 21A.
“Officers in attendance at the scene found that a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles.
“Sadly, the pedestrian was found dead at the scene.

Cheshire Police led the response and carried out investigations on the M6 northbound between J21 and J21A near Warrington, which required a full closure of the carriageway.
National Highways Traffic Officers established and maintained the closure points throughout Friday night.
The motorway has since fully re-opened.
