M6 closed at Warrington due to police led incident following serious collision

MOTORISTS are being advised to avoid the M6 near Warrington this morning following a serious road traffic collision between junctions 21 and 21A.

Road closures are in place northbound between junctions 21–21A and 28–30 while emergency services work at the scene.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Cheshire Police are leading the response and are carrying out investigations on the M6 northbound between J21 and J21A near Warrington, requiring a full closure of the carriageway.
Cheshire Police notified National Highways at 02:52am requesting assistance with implementing full closures to create a safe working environment at the scene.
National Highways Traffic Officers have been establishing and maintaining the closure points throughout the night, and they have also been managing the controlled turning of traffic caught within the closure.
As we approach the morning period, the closure remains in place with no expected end time currently available. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
