WARRINGTON’S Evelyn Street Primary Academy and Nursery is one of a handful of schools from across England invited to join the government’s behaviour and attendance hubs programme.

Evelyn Street was chosen by the Department for Education (DfE) as a one of the 36 new Attendance and Behaviour Hub lead schools because of its proven track record in turning behaviour and attendance around.
There are now 93 lead schools across the country, working to support other schools to identify absence early, build positive cultures, engage parents, and establish strong routines.
Louise Smith, chief executive of Warrington Primary Academy Trust, said: “We are incredibly proud to be awarded the Attendance and Behaviour Hub status.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of our staff and students in creating a positive, inclusive culture where high expectations support success.
“We are delighted to share our practice and work collaboratively with other schools to help improve attendance and behaviour for all young people.”

Warrington Primary Academy Trust has a strong track record of transforming schools’behaviour when they become part of the trust.

• The predecessor school of Ditton Primary Academy in Widnes was judged inadequate overall before joining WPAT in 2019. By October 2023 the school was rated good overall, with behaviour and attitudes rated as good. Ofsted said that pupils behaved well during lessons and around the school and that the school acted decisively to address previous weaknesses in the curriculum, attendance and behaviour.
• Simms Cross Primary in Widnes placed in special measures in November 2018 and joined WPAT in 2020, becoming Kingsway Primary Academy. In September 2023 inspectors rated Kingsway as good overall, with good behaviour and attitudes. Ofsted said pupils behaved respectfully towards one another and to adults, and that there was a calm and orderly atmosphere that enabled pupils to focus well on their learning. They also said disruption to learning was “very rare”.
Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT) is a community of nine schools in Warrington, Widnes and Frodsham educating more than 2,600 children aged 2 to 11. WPAT was formed in 2016 and quickly developed a national reputation for excellent standards. WPAT provides staff at all its schools with support, expertise and professional development so that they can provide the very best education standards for their children.
