Rolls-Royce SMR is offering people in the North West an opportunity to begin a career in nuclear safety, with the launch of a new Safety and Regulatory Affairs Apprenticeship based in Warrington and Manchester.

The four‑year programme is designed not only for ambitious school leavers taking their first steps into industry, but also for individuals seeking a fresh career direction and wanting to move into a role that plays a crucial part in keeping nuclear projects safe.
The apprentices will work towards a Level 3 Engineering qualification, gaining essential engineering skills alongside structured on‑the‑job experience and in‑house training. The programme offers the chance to earn while developing the specialist knowledge required to become a future expert in this high‑demand field.
“This apprenticeship opens the door to a truly unique and rewarding career,” said Mark Salisbury, Head of Regulatory Affairs at Rolls-Royce SMR. “Our work is central to every part of the nuclear sector, and we’re excited to welcome the next generation of talent who will help shape our industry’s future.”

Rolls-Royce SMR has been selected as preferred bidder in the Great British Energy – Nuclear (GBE-N) SMR competition and by European utility, ČEZ, to build up to three gigawatts of new nuclear power in the Czech Republic.
GBE-N recently announced that Wylfa on Ynys Môn (Anglesey) was selected as the site for the UK’s first Small Modular Reactors delivering up to 1.5GW of low-carbon electricity, supporting the UK’s net zero goals and creating significant economic benefit – including 8,000 quality long-term British jobs with many more exciting apprenticeships to come in North Wales and across the UK.
