Man arrested for causing obstruction on railway at Central Station

A man has been arrested after causing an obstruction on the railway at Central Station, Warrington, on Sunday morning.

The incident created a large emergency presence including police, fire and ambulance services as Midland Way was cordoned off and prevented people boarding trains at the station as the line was closed.

British Transport Police today confirmed: “Officers were called to the line near Warrington Central railway station at 8.40am yesterday (8 February) following reports of a trespasser on the tracks. Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of obstruction of the railway.”
No further details have been released at this stage.
