Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Warrington yesterday.

At 4.10pm on Thursday 5 February a Red Toyota Yaris and a Red Nissan Juke were travelling along Thelwall New Road in opposite directions when they collided.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota Yaris were taken to hospital. The driver, an 87-year-old man, sadly died, and the passenger, an 82-year-old woman, remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan Duke received minor injuries.
Inspector Andy Dennison said: “I’d urge anyone who witnessed the collision to contact us.
“The same goes for anyone who has dash cam footage, CCTV or doorbell footage that may help our investigation into the circumstances of the collision.”

Two fire engines from Lymm and Warrington attended at the scene.
Police were in attendance, and the road was closed in both directions while the incident was dealt with.
