MORE road works are planned for historic Grappenhall village for ongoing Heritage Area works involving reconstructing and relaying the cobbled road surface.
The works, which will also improve drainage, will involve road closures for up to two weeks, starting from April 7.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Church Lane from its junction with Broad Lane to its junction with Glebe Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 7th April 2026 for 2 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Church Lane, A56 Chester Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa or via Broad Lane, Grappenhall Lane, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow continuing works to the Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.
