ESSENTIAL road works on Kingsway South, Warrington, including a 24-hour lane closure, is set to cause traffic congestion across the wider network.
Warrington Borough Council has today (Wednesday) announced that SP Energy Networks are carrying out essential ducting works on Kingsway South to support a major customer connection. To minimise disruption, the council is working closely with Scottish Power to coordinate these works alongside the ongoing Kingsway Bridge Active Travel scheme.
For the works to be completed safely and efficiently, a 24-hour lane closure on Kingsway South is required until 30 January. This is expected to cause congestion on the wider network.
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We appreciate the patience and understanding of road users and the local community as we complete these improvements. By coordinating these works with Scottish Power now, we aim to minimise the need for further disruption in this area in the future and ensure long-term benefits for Warrington – supporting reliable utilities infrastructure, improved sustainable travel routes, and a better experience for all road users.”
The ongoing road works have caused dismay in the local community with regular traffic disruption.
