Man convicted of attempted murder charged with absconding from prison

A man who was convicted of attempted murder has been charged with absconding from Appleton Thorn open prison in Warrington.

Kieran Cameron, who was serving 23 years for attempted murder, was arrested by officers from Cheshire Police in the Hulme area of Manchester on Thursday, 8 January.
The 43-year-old has since been charged with escaping lawful custody and threats to damage/ destroy property.
Cameron appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on Saturday, 10 January, where he was remanded in custody.
He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Monday, 9 February 2026.
