PRIESTLEY College has been awarded the status of European Ambassador School – the only institution in Warrington to receive this recognition.

The accreditation enables Priestley to champion European culture and democracy, while encouraging students to build connections with their peers across the continent.
“At Priestley, we are proud to offer French, German and Spanish at A-Level, where we not only teach the language but also celebrate the rich cultures behind them,” said Curriculum Lead Cristina Piñón.
“Becoming an Ambassador School feels like a natural step, as we already embody the values this accreditation represents.”
As part of the programme, Priestley has appointed two senior ambassadors – tutors Cristina and Celia Burns – along with a team of junior ambassadors made up of students.
Together, they join a national network of Ambassador Schools, collaborating to promote European democracy, values, and culture through student-led initiatives.
The programme opens up opportunities such as visits to the European Parliament and encourages students to engage actively with EU-related topics through debates, events, and campaigns.
Celia said the initiative can help young people see the relevance of politics in their lives.
“Students sometimes feel disconnected from politics, and we hope this programme helps them understand its continuing importance,” she said.
Junior ambassadors receive a certificate recognising their participation, which can strengthen UCAS applications. Their involvement can also count towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Cristina added: “We believe in broadening our students’ horizons, and this is another way of showing them the opportunities that exist beyond Warrington.”
