WHILE Warrington’s legendary Santa Tony Gandy is officially retiring from his sleigh duties this year – a special book has been created in recognition of his charitable work over many years.

Tony Gandy, former President of Warrington Lions International, will no longer be touring the streets of Warrington.
Travelling around areas of Warrington people in their 40s remember seeing Tony as Santa when they were children and they have seen him every year since then.
In all weathers, assisted by his Lion members, Tony has selflessly brought many hours of Christmas joy to young and old and will be greatly missed.
Now local author Chloe Birchall, daughter of current President Lion Carol Kilgannon, has created a book which will be Tony’s legacy to the Warrington Community.
The book tells the story of last weekend’s events when one of the sleigh’s wheels got punctured, resulting in that night’s route being cancelled and the efforts of many got the sleigh back on the road.
The book “Santa’s Community Christmas” is available to purchase for £10 on Amazon using the link below. After the Amazon fees have been paid, it leaves approximately £2.25 profit, which Chloe is very generously donating to Warrington Lions International.
Tony is also an internet sensation for his infamous “I can’t stop, my clutch has gone” Christmas classic which went viral a few years ago.
And while Tony is retiring from sleigh duties, he says he will still be making special guest appearances at schools and colleges next year, all being well.
Meanwhile, his tour of duty will continue this week, finishing on Sunday evening.
