Colleagues from David Wilson Homes North West have scaled new heights to raise funds for OnSide Warrington Youth Zone, completing the equivalent of a climb from Everest Base Camp to its summit.
A total of 14 employees took part in the challenge, which saw them complete 401 climbs between them under the guidance of climbing coach, Kristian Barnes, and supported by the team at Warrington Youth Zone. The centre provides young people with access to opportunities, support, and a safe space to thrive.
The feat, which tested both physical and mental endurance, was organised to raise vital funds for Warrington Youth Zone, with over £6,000 raised through the climb. With the matched funding from The Barratt Redrow Foundation, a total of £12,316 was donated to the charity thanks to the efforts of the David Wilson Homes North West team.
Sarah Brennan, Relationship Manager at Warrington Youth Zone, said: “We are so grateful to the David Wilson Homes North West team for taking on such a tough challenge in support of Warrington Youth Zone. Their incredible effort shows just how much they care about supporting local young people. The funds raised, will make a significant difference to the work we do with children and young people.”
The Warrington-based homebuilder smashed its initial target of £5,000, with every pound of the over £12,000 raised going directly to supporting the charity’s work in the local community.
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “I am incredibly proud of the determination and team spirit shown by our colleagues in taking on this challenge. Climbing to the height of Everest’s summit is no small feat, and their commitment reflects just how important Warrington Youth Zone is to the community.
“We are delighted to be supporting such a vital cause, helping young people access the opportunities and encouragement they need to thrive. We encourage all who are able to donate to do so, as it is for a truly wonderful cause.”
