A public footpath closure has been extended by 18 months to allow construction works on the new Extra Motorway service station near Croft, Warrington.

Warrington Borough Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 27th November 2025. The effect of which was to introduce a footpath closure on Croft Footpath 25 for its entire length.
The Order was to be effective from 27th November 2025 for 6 months, however due to the nature of the closure the Secretary of State has granted permission for an extension of a further 18-month period to 27th November 2027, or such lesser period as determined by the earlier completion of the works. The closure will be in place when signed on site.
The alternative route will be signed and available on site. The closure is required to allow water course diversion works to take place to the footpath as part of the Extra Motorway service station construction works.
