A NOT-for-profit community group from Warrington won a top award in the RHS North West In Bloom “It’s Your Neighbourhood” competition – at the first attempt.
East Latchford Friends manage the East Latchford Community and Wellbeing Garden and in just two years have transformed a derelict space into a place of beauty and tranquility.
Angela Davenport, chair of the group, said: “We attended the awards ceremony at Bolton Football Stadium where we were thrilled to be awarded Level 5 Outstanding – the highest level – which is virtually unheard of in your first year of entry!
“It’s all down to the hard work of Ann Brown and Ron Broadfield.
“Our garden is just over two years old and in that time we have totally transformed a derelict space into a place of beauty and tranquility.
“It’s a huge achievement for our community.”
