Mayor helps retired GP celebrate 100th birthday

MAYOR of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain, paid a special visit to Dr. Michael Desmond at Gainsborough House Nursing Home to help celebrate the retired GP’s 100th birthday.

Born in 1925 in Cork, Ireland, Dr. Desmond studied medicine at Cork University before moving to the United Kingdom in the late 1940s, where he dedicated his professional life to the National Health Service (NHS)  then as a General Practitioner. Over many decades of service, he cared for countless patients and became a highly respected figure within the community.
100th birthday
Dr. Desmond celebrated this remarkable milestone surrounded by his loving family,six children, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, who gathered to honour his long and distinguished life.
Cllr Mo Hussain said:“It was a real honour to meet Dr. Desmond and celebrate his 100th birthday. His lifelong service to the NHS and dedication to helping others is an inspiration to us all. Reaching such a milestone surrounded by family and loved ones is a testament to a life well-lived.”
Staff at Gainsborough House Nursing Home also joined in the celebrations, making the day extra special for Dr. Desmond.
