A crash on the M62 near Warrington and the ship canal swing bridges opening at “rush hour” caused traffic delays across town this morning.
A 10-minute commute took up to an hour for many frustrated motorists.
‘Severe delays’ were reported following the collision eastbound on the M62 from junction 11 for the A574 Birchwood Way (Birchwood) to junction 12 for the M60.
Congestion was reported back to junction eight for Burtonwood. The crash also caused long delays on the M6 southbound.
Queues stretched from Croft up to Winwick/Newton.
The swing bridges opening at rush hour also caused traffic delays across south Warrington in particular at Stockton Heath.
All lanes on the M62 are now open.
