FURTHER road closures have been scheduled as part of Warrington Borough Council’s ongoing Bus Service Improvement Plan.
The works are scheduled from October 27th for up to 14 weeks and will involve temporary road closures between 7 pm and 6 am in a bid to minimise traffic disruption.
The borough council has given notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Driving: Winwick Road from its junction with Long Lane to its junction with Pinners Brow; Long Lane from its junction with Winwick Road to its junction with Fisher Avenue.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (A50 Long Lane/Orford Green) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit) Order 2007 in so far as it relates to: A50 Long Lane (Eastbound) from the A49 Winwick Road to the west side of its junction with Fisher Avenue; A50 Orford Green (Westbound) from its junction with Hilden Place to the east side of its junction with the south-eastern end of Birtles Road.
The Order will be effective from 27th October 2025 for 14 weeks to the 1st February 2026, between 7pm and 6am, as and when signed on site. The restrictions will be carried out in 5 phases with 1 phase in operation at any one time as follows: Phase 1: Long Lane; Phase 2: Winwick Road southbound Long Lane to Longford Street; Phase 3: Winwick Road southbound Longford Street to Pinners Brow; Phase 4: Winwick Road northbound Pinners Brow to Longford Street; Phase 5: Winwick Road northbound Longford Street to Long Lane.
Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Phase 1 via Winwick Road, Lythgoes Lane, Manchester Road, Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood Way, Orford Road, Orford Green, School Road and vice versa; Phase 2 and 3 via Long Lane, School Road, Orford Green, Orford Road, Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Avenue, Manchester Road and Lythgoes Lane; Phase 4 via Lythgoes Lane, Midland Way, Froghall Lane, Priestley Street, Lovely Lane, Folly Lane and Kerfoot Street; Phase 5 via Lythgoes Lane, Manchester Road, Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood Way, Orford Road, Orford Green, School Road and Long Lane.
The restrictions are required to allow for resurfacing works to be carried out associated with BSIP.
