ASDA Cockhedge and Inclusion Starts With Us partner to support neurodiverse shoppers

This weekend, ASDA Cockhedge in Warrington will launch a new initiative in partnership with Inclusion Starts With Us, a family-led campaign championing practical inclusion across public spaces.

Together, they’re introducing Sensory Support Bags, which can now be borrowed from the Customer Service Desk during your shop and returned afterwards. These bags are designed to reduce sensory overwhelm and support emotional regulation, making shopping more accessible for neurodiverse children and adults.

Each bag includes:
– Ear defenders
– Sunglasses for light sensitivity
– Fidget toys
– Emotion keyrings
– Visuals to support shopping
– Visuals to support use of self-checkouts

The donation of four sensory bags was made possible by Inclusion Starts With Us, thanks to generous local contributions. The bags were personally delivered by Nathan-Jack, the 14-year-old founder of the campaign, and his sister Violet—both students at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School. They were warmly welcomed by ASDA staff, who were excited to be part of the journey and proud to support inclusive shopping.

“This is about more than resources—it’s about understanding,” says Amy, campaign coordinator. “When public spaces adapt to meet diverse needs, everyone benefits.”
