Power restored after Lymm village hit with second power cut in less than 24 hours

UPDATED: Power has been restored and a fault has been identified, following a second power cut in the space of 24 hours at Lymm.

SP Energy Networks engineers traced the issue to an underground cable fault in Lymm village centre.

The power cut affected the WA13 postcode, particularly in the village centre and local businesses.

After being faced with 2 power cuts in less than 24 hours, local Cllr Graham Gowland commented: “In recent months, we’ve had several power cuts in Lymm, and these two most recent ones have really impacted local businesses. The power company SPEN has attended quickly, but this morning it was apparent that the issue is bigger than they expected. It would appear an underground cable in the village centre had a fault.”
The issue today seems to have impacted the village centre substation, which is supplied underground.
Scottish Power Energy Networks apologised for the recurring power interruption in the WA13 postcode area around Lymm and has now restored power after bringing in a temporary generator while carrying out repairs.
The timeframe may change based on investigations into what work is required to fix the issue.
