A Major Incident Standby has been declared tonight (Saturday) due to the risk of flooding in Warrington with some areas already impacted by flood waters.
The Environment Agency, Warrington Borough Council and Met Office are monitoring the situation very closely with sandbags being delivered to Vauxhall Close in Penketh, where waters were reported to be knee high.
Hawleys Lane bridge is also currently flooded. Please do not attempt to drive through.

🔴The Council is providing out-of-hours support, but demand is rising.
🔴If you cannot safely leave your home during a flood event (for example, if the water is too deep), please call 999 immediately.

Ms Hall said: “Please look out for neighbours, especially older people and those who may struggle to get help quickly. And only travel if it is safe to do so.
“Stay safe, and I will keep you updated when I have more information.
Flood alerts earlier in the day were upgraded to flood warnings with a Major Incident Standby now declared.
Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding overnight. Flooding is expected when river levels are at their highest from 4:00 AM on 21/09/2025.
Floods are also forecast to affect locations near the Sankey Brook, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around commercial and retail property off Europa Boulevard at Gemini Industrial Park.
Weather conditions are expected to improve at midday tomorrow afternoon and no further flooding is expected.
