Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School has been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA), a nationally recognised standard that celebrates schools which demonstrate excellence in strengthening parental engagement.

The award, granted by Optimus Education, acknowledges the school’s commitment to working in close partnership with families to support students’ learning, wellbeing, and future aspirations.
In their feedback, Optimus Education praised Sir Thomas Boteler’s “strong, strategic approach to parental partnership,” highlighting the school’s whole-community commitment to embedding effective practice.
Optimus Education stated: “Sir Thomas Boteler has embedded a strong, strategic approach to parental partnership through the appointment of an LPPA Coordinator, a working group and a whole school commitment. Parental engagement is viewed not as an add-on, but as a fundamental aspect of the school’s culture and mission, as reflected in the role of the coordinator.

Staff seek out parent voice, respond thoughtfully to feedback and create accessible opportunities for families to contribute. Initiatives such as Parent Forums, regular surveys, and shared learning workshops illustrate this sustained commitment. The school’s strengths in communication, accessibility and inclusive practices have led to improved trust and relationships with families. Parents feel welcomed, involved and listened to, demonstrated by high feedback scores and active participation in forums and school events. Communication is timely and adapted to parent preferences, improving response rates and engagement.”
Assistant Headteacher Mr Scott Mason, who is the school Parental Engagement Lead, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the LPPA Award. Our school values of High Expectations, High Aspirations and High Standards shape everything we do, and this award recognises the vital role that parents and carers play in their child’s education. We believe that strong partnerships with families are key to our students’ success, and we are proud that this has been recognised nationally.”

The LPPA is valid for three years and will support Sir Thomas Boteler in continuing to strengthen home-school relationships, ensuring that every family feels valued, informed, and included in their child’s journey.
