THE Friends of Alexandra Park in Stockton Heath, Warrington, helped raise £500 for local charity Warrington VIP with an end-of-season café fundraiser.

Tucked away in the heart of Stockton Heath, Alexandra Park is a green oasis much loved by local residents. With its mix of sports facilities, community events, and peaceful corners to relax, the park is both a treasured piece of history and a vibrant hub of village life.
Each year, the Friends of Alexandra Park host an end-of-season café fundraiser, serving up tea, coffee, and an irresistible selection of home-baked cakes and savouries. At the close of the season, the group nominates a local charity to support—and this year, Warrington VIP was their chosen cause.
The community turned out in force to enjoy the afternoon, with the lime and blueberry cake proving a firm favourite among visitors. In total, an incredible £500 was raised to help support people living with sight loss and visual impairment in Warrington.
Warrington VIP CEO Fiona said: “This was my first visit to the Friends of Alexandra Park café, and I was struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It was lovely to see the friendships and sense of community shining through. The cakes were delicious, and I had such a delightful afternoon. I’m already looking forward to coming back next season.”
Fiona was joined by Rachel, a Warrington VIP Home Visitor, and together they shared information about the services the charity offers, including the popular lunch club, chair-based exercise sessions, and home visiting service. Rachel added:“Warrington VIP was nominated for the FOAP charity fundraiser by a close friend and neighbour in memory of a client I had been visiting, who also attended our centre. She knew how much her friend valued and enjoyed everything Warrington VIP offered, and wanted to support us in continuing that work. As Fiona said, it was a lovely afternoon – and the cakes were delicious! Thank you so much for having us.”
The event was not only a wonderful way to bring people together but also a reminder of how much can be achieved when the community rallies around a good cause.
