WARRINGTON Wolves fell to their seventh defeat in eight games as their painful run to the end of the season continued with a 34-2 loss at Hull FC.
The only saving grace for any ardent fans making their way back from Hull is knowing that Thursday’s trip to Hull KR is the final game of what has turned in to a 2025 to forget.
With Hull chasing a top six play-off spot, it was up to them to make the running though the Wolves did manage to frustrate them in the opening quarter, taking the lead through a Marc Sneyd penalty.
Leading 2-0, the game turned when Lachlan Fitzgibbon was sinbinned for a high shot on Sam Eseh, with Hull scoring three tries while the Wolves were down to 12.
Lewis Martin, former Warrington youngster Denive Balmforth and Aidan Sezer put the hosts firmly in control.
Harvey Barron scored a fourth try as Hull led 22-2 at half-time.
There was little to cheer about for the Wolves after the break either, Toby King having a try ruled out inside five minutes for a forward pass.
Hull added two further tries through Jordan Lane and Zak Hardaker, though spared Warrington any further hurt in the final 16 minutes.
