MAYOR of Warrington, Cllr. Mo Hussain, attended the St Rocco’s Hospice Volunteer Recognition Evening at the Village Hotel to celebrate the outstanding dedication and service of the hospice’s volunteers and trustees.

Over 100 volunteers attended the celebration, with 17 awards presented on the night for service ranging from two years to an incredible 40 years. A further 50 awards will be presented to those unable to attend.

A special highlight of the evening was meeting Gladys Taylor, aged 103, who still volunteers with St Rocco’s at Lymm. Gladys charmed the audience by saying she would do even more if she wasn’t “too busy.”
Among the evening’s honours were three remarkable volunteers – Yvonne Fairbrother, David Littlewood and Hilda Aylin – who were each recognised for 40 years of dedicated service.

Speaking at the event, Cllr Hussain, said:“It was a true honour to celebrate the wonderful volunteers of St Rocco’s this evening. The time, compassion, and commitment they give is absolutely priceless. On behalf of Warrington, I want to thank every single volunteer and trustee for being the heart of the hospice and for making such a difference to the lives of so many people in our community.”

Guy Hindle, Chair of Trustees at St Rocco’s Hospice, added: “It was a privilege to celebrate the commitment of our wonderful volunteers at tonight’s awards ceremony. So many members of Warrington’s community give their time to St Rocco’s and we wouldn’t be able to continue to provide such excellent care without them. I know that our volunteers love what they do and we are lucky to have them. Some have been with us for a matter of months, others far longer. We even recognised three volunteers tonight who have been with us for all 40 years of St Rocco’s existence. They are quite remarkable, wonderful people who have made a tremendous contribution to the hospice and the community of Warrington.”
St Rocco’s Hospice relies heavily on the dedication of its volunteers to provide essential care and support for patients and families across Warrington
