Weather warning as Storm Amy heads for the UK

WARRINGTON could be hit by unsettled weather this weekend as Storm Amy moves in from the Atlantic.
Strong winds and heavy rain are expected across large parts of the country between Saturday and Monday.
While coastal areas in Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland are set to bear the brunt of the storm, forecasters warn that inland towns such as Warrington could still see gusts of 40–60mph, along with persistent rainfall that may cause localised flooding.
Storm Amy comes just months after Storm Darragh and Storm Éowyn caused widespread damage and travel disruption across the UK and Ireland. Both storms left thousands without power and highlighted how quickly conditions can change when Atlantic systems intensify.
Warrington residents can take simple precautions:

Secure garden furniture, bins, and other loose items.

Check drains and gutters to reduce the risk of flooding.

Allow extra time for travel, with possible delays on road and rail.

Keep up to date with official Met Office warnings and local news outlets.
Warrington is not currently in the storm’s highest-risk zone, but experts caution that conditions can shift quickly. The worst of the weather is expected on Sunday into Monday, with heavy showers likely across Cheshire and surrounding areas.
