Fire crews tackle two flat fires

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle two flat fires overnight in the Bewsey and Westy areas of Warrington.

At 03:52 this morning (Saturday), crews from Warrington and Penketh were called to reports of a flat fire on Plumtre Avenue, Bewsey.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out a fire in the bedroom of a ground-floor flat. They deployed a hose reel water jet to extinguish the fire. All persons were accounted for. Crews were at the scene for around two hours.

Meanwhile, last night at 23:35, crews from Warrington and Birchwood were called to reports of a fire at a flat on Worsley Avenue, Westy.
Firefighters discovered a fire in the living room of a first-floor flat. They found a sofa on fire and, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel water jet to put the fire out. All persons were accounted for.
