RESIDENTS at Cheshire Grange Care Home in Lymm journeyed back in time to rediscover fashion from earlier times.
They made the journey thanks to a “Memory Box” from the Marks & Spencer Archive.
These Memory Boxes contain original clothing and accessories dating from the 1940s to the 1970s and can be used as memory and conversation prompts.
The residents enjoyed reminiscing about the clothing, remembering having worn similar styles.
Members of the activities team had great fun modelling some of the items.
Dawn Holsgrove-Smith, general manager of Cheshire Grange said “We aim to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, as well as being a marvellous reminiscence event this particular activity was lots of fun too”
Many of the residents commented that the clothing wouldn’t look out of place today but were very glad that under garments had moved forward in style and comfort!
Cheshire Grange is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 50 residents from respite care to long term stays.
