ST. Mary’s Church in Lymm is taking part in the National Heritage Open Day on September 13 & 14 which will include special history tours.
The church will be open from 11.00 am to 4.00pm on the Saturday and 12.00pm to 4.30pm on the Sunday. Refreshments will be available. Entrance to the event is free, donations are always welcome!
Visitors are invited to explore this Grade 11 Listed building with wonderful stained-glass windows, marvellous items of interest some going back to medieval times and lots of items of local interest. The first church on the site was approximately 700 AD and it is mentioned in the Domesday book.
Inside the church each day there will be a tour of the tower and bells and a tour of the church accompanied by a recently written booklet and an interactive children’s quiz. Outside the church there will also be a fascinating tour of the church grave yard on an hourly basis led by Alan Williams and his accomplished team. So come and enjoy a fun and informative visit to a truly historical building and environs!
