Heavy defeat for Warrington in Cheshire County League

WARRINGTON suffered a heavy defeat against Heaton Mersey – the latest in a series of disappointing results in their Cheshire County League come-back season.

After a bright start to the season which gave rise to hopes of instant promotion, their recent lack of form has suggested that life is too hard in the county league.
Heaton Mersey hit 244-6, with Ashley Scholes pick of the Warrington bowlers with 3-33.
Warrington were then bowled out for 102, with Brandon Andres’ 26 the only glimmer of resistance in the batting line-up.
Grappenhall, meanwhile, lost by 99 runs against Davenham, who hit 234, despite Ross Arrowsmith’s tidy 3-27. Grappers were all out for 135, A Percy 44.

In the Cheshire League Lymm Oughtrington Park won comfortably against Wilmslow after posting 181-5, Antonnel Atwell hitting 42 and Alex Kelly 41.
Wilmslow were held to 172-6, Kishan Meghara taking 3-47 and Anthony Spaven 2-18.
Appleton went down against Malpas, 157, with Aamir Akash taking 4-24. Appleton could only muster 118, Josh Hill top scoring with 31.
Glazebury posted a challenging 198-9 against Knutsford but it proved to be not enough,.
Knutsford hit 204-6.
Ben Marota, 49, Anthony Meulman, 22 and Wayne Hargreaves, 43, starred with the bat for Glazebury. Sean Caine was the pick of the bowlers with 3-59.
