Some bus services to cease operation next month

A NUMBER of bus services in Warrington will cease operation next month, following a review of services across the borough.

This follows the ending of BSIP (Bus Service Improvement Programme) funding, which the council has received since 2023 and which supported various services across the borough.
A council spokesperson said: “The council always seeks to avoid the removal of bus services wherever possible. Unfortunately, without continued financial support, these services are not viable for a commercial bus operator.”

The following services will cease operation:
• Warrington’s Own Buses – Service 24: Ends on Sunday, September 1
• Howards (Omega Busways) – Services 10 and 47: Ends on Saturday, September 14
• MD Coaches – Services 31/31A/33, B29, and 23: Ends on Saturday, September 14

The council’s transport team is continuing to look for new and innovative ways to provide travel solutions for residents, in addition to active travel options, and is working closely with partner organisations such as Warrington Community Transport
Passengers are advised to check the latest timetables and service updates on the individual operator websites.
