“Firearm” incident: Man charged and due to appear in court

A MAN who was arrested after reports of a disturbance involving what appeared to be a firearm in Warrington town centre earlier this week has now been charged.

Kevin Appleyard, aged 40, of Southworth Avenue, Bewsey, Warrington has been released on bail to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court on Monday, September 8.

At around 4.35pm on Tuesday police were called to reports of an incident in the Scotland Road area of Warrington.
Local officers, supported by firearms officers and the police helicopter, were deployed to the scene and following a search of the area a 40-year-old man was located in Sankey Valley Park.
Appleyard has since been charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place, criminal damage and use threatening , abusive, insulting words behaviour with intent to cause fear or to provoke unlawful violence.
