Up to 17 weeks of road closures for highway improvements

UP to 17 weeks of road closures are set to start in the Kingsway North and Kingsway South areas of Warrington later this month for highway improvement works.

The works are set to start on August 25th.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: A50 Kingsway South from its junction with A50 Kingsway North to its junction with Westy Lane; Grange Avenue from its junction with A50 Kingsway South to its junction with Stringer Crescent; Bridgewater Avenue from its junction with A50 Kingsway South to its junction with Brindley Avenue; A50 Kingsway North from its junction with A50 Kingsway South to its junction with A57 Manchester Road.
Footway Closure: A50 Kingsway South from its junction with A50 Kingsway North to its junction with Westy Lane; A50 Kingsway North from its junction with A50 Kingsway South to its junction with A57 Manchester Road; Farrell Street from its junction with A50 Kingsway North to a point 40m in a westerly direction from Holmsfield Road.
The Order will be effective from 25th August 2025. The restrictions are for a period of 17 weeks with the hours of operation as follows: Prohibition of Driving & Clearway between 7pm and 5am; Footway Closure for 24 hours. The alternative routes will be: A50 Kingsway South via A50 Kingsway North, A57 Manchester Road, Cockhedge Green Roundabout, A49 Brick Street, A49 Fennel Street, A49 Mersey Street, Bridgefoot, A5061 Knutsford Road, A5061 Thelwall Lane and vice versa; A50 Kingsway North via A57 Manchester Road, Cockhedge Green Roundabout, A49 Brick Street, A49 Fennel Street, A49 Mersey Street, Bridgefoot, A5061 Knutsford Road, A5061 Thelwall Lane, A50 Kingsway South and vice versa. The restrictions are required for Highway improvement works.
