The chip pan display unit reconstructed the effects of careless use of chip pans. Oil is heated up and then a firefighter wearing full protective clothing adds water which creates a ball of fire, a dramatic, visual reminder of why chip pans can be so dangerous showing why swapping them out for safer options is a good decision.
A demonstration showing how firefighters remove people from a damaged vehicle by cutting the roof away was appreciated by a well attended audience

A fleet of vintage fire engines with the oldest dating back to 1850 were on display and offered a fun activity for the youngsters (as well as Warrington’s Mayor, Cllr. Mo Hussain). The Heritage Fleet is lovingly cared for by a team of volunteers who not only brought vintage machines to the day but also take them to shows and events around the county.
The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service open days across the area are in support of The Fire Fighters Charity, the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families.
