Ben Hardcastle pounced on a goalkeeper blunder to score the only goal of the match and give Warrington Rylands a 1 – 0 home victory against Bamber Bridge.
The Brig came to The Quickline Logistics Arena full of confidence following a victory against league play-off favourites, Guiseley, but found Rylands a more difficult challenge
In an end-to-end match Neil Reynold’s squad chased every ball giving Bamber Bridge little time to play their usual flowing game, and came close to opening the score on several occasions. However it was when trying to play out from the goal that keeper Aidan Dowling’s pass was too short for his defender to control and The Blues quickly jumped. As it fell to Hardcastle he rocketed the ball into the net giving Dowling no chance to stop it.
Warrington’s defence stood firm as the Preston side continued to put pressure on the home goal searching for the equaliser.
With strength throughout the squad Reynolds brought on fresh legs in an attempt to put the game to bed, but in the end a single goal was enough for Warrington to take all three points.
Rylands will be back at Gorsey Lane on Saturday 16th August when they host Gainsborough Town.
