HEARTSTART  Lymm, a trusted name in community first aid training,  has officially become a registered charity.

The move formalises years of volunteer-driven, community-focused work and opens up new opportunities to expand free and low-cost first aid training across Lymm and surrounding areas.

Cllr Graham Gowland, one of the charity’s trustees, said: “We’ve been working with schools, youth groups and local residents for years, always focused on giving people the skills and confidence to save a life.

“Becoming a registered charity gives us a stronger platform to build on and helps ensure that this vital work continues for years to come.”

The charity is now actively recruiting volunteer trainers to help deliver first aid sessions — especially for local scout, guide and youth groups. No prior first aid or teaching experience is required, as full training and support will be provided.

“We know how much young people gain from learning life-saving skills early,” said Sandy Thomson, lead trainer and fellow trustee. “From CPR to using a defibrillator, these skills are simple but powerful — and they stay with them for life. If you’ve got the time and enthusiasm, we’d love to hear from you.”

With formal charitable status now in place, Heartstart Lymm is also looking to recruit an additional trustee to support its growing work. The team is especially keen to hear from individuals with a passion for health education, community service or charity governance.

Trustee Tracy Gowland said “Becoming a trustee is a brilliant way to give back to the community,

“We’re a friendly, hands-on team, and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to making first aid accessible to all. If you care about empowering others with life-saving skills, this is a chance to really make a difference.”
