Reform UK not getting carried away with by-election success

THE Warrington branch of Reform UK says it is not getting carried away with success following last night’s by-election victory at Bewsey & Whitecross.

With just an 18 per cent turnout for the Warrington Borough Council seat of Bewsey and Whitecross, Reform UK candidate John Roddy won with 43.7% of the votes, taking the seat off Labour.

Meanwhile, their candidate, Jack Thwaites, came a strong second in the Parish Council election in Stockton Heath.
However, the local branch, which only formed in February, is not getting carried away.
Jan Balfe, the branch Chair, said: “It was disappointing that the turnout was low, but I am sure that when people see that Reform Councillors do make a positive difference, people will learn to trust some politicians again”.
Local businessman Mr Roddy wanted to thank those who voted for him, and promised to work hard to address issues people had raised with him during the campaign.
They mainly raised the issues of flooding, Crime and the surge in HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupancy).
The by-election success gives Reform UK their first seat on the borough council after missing out in a by-election at Great Sankey earlier in the year by just 30 votes.
Meanwhile Labour Leader of Warrington Borough Council, says that while the result was extremely disappointing, it was also not surprising in the current political climate.
