WARRINGTONIANS turned out in force to bid a fond farewell to legendary bodybuilder Walter O’Malley, who sadly died recently, aged 86.

The former Mr Universe runner-up paid one last visit to his famous gym on Norman Street, Warrington, before a funeral service at Walton Lea Crematorium.
Several hundred well-wishers broke out in applause as the hearse arrived outside the gym, with hundreds more attending the service at Walton Lea.

After a successful bodybuilding career on stage, O’Malley continued to be an important figure back home in Warrington, where he opened a gym on Norman Street where he could interact and help others build the best versions of themselves.
Many took to social media to share memories of Walter O’Malley following his passing, including WWE legend Davey Boy Smith Jr.
He competed in the Mr. Universe competition in the Tall division five times, finishing as the runner-up in 1973 and 1974. He is also a former champion of the Mr. World – AAU, Most Muscular and Tall.
