A local home care provider, Right at Home Lymm and Warrington South, has made a heartfelt donation to the Oughtrington Luncheon Club in memory of a much-loved client, Morag Smith, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
The donation was made possible after the company won the Super Duck at the Lymm Duck Race in April, receiving a £1,000 prize to donate to local charities. In honour of two late clients, the home care provider chose to split the prize money. The first donation was given to the Oughtrington Luncheon Club — a place that meant so much to Morag and continues to support many of their current clients.
“We wanted to do something in Morag’s memory that would make a real difference,” said Clare Coke, Care Director. “The Luncheon Club was a special place for her and supporting them felt like the perfect way to honour her life and her connection to the community.”
The club’s manager, Iain Penlington, expressed his gratitude, saying: “On behalf of everyone at the Luncheon Club, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Right at Home Lymm and Warrington South for the generous donation. Your kindness has helped us purchase a new fridge, ensuring we can continue serving fresh, nourishing meals to our community. Your support truly makes a difference!”
The Oughtrington Luncheon Club runs every Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 1.30pm, offering local people in Lymm, Oughtrington, and Heatley the chance to enjoy company, gentle activities, and a home-cooked meal — all for just £5. Activities include tea and toast on arrival, chair-based yoga, games, a raffle, a buffet lunch, and dessert.
A further news item regarding the second donation — made to a memorial garden in memory of former client Peter Powell — will be shared in due course.
