Grappenhall suffered their heaviest defeat of the season

GRAPPENHALL arguably suffered their heaviest defeat of a disappointing season when they were beaten by 276 runs at home to Macclesfield in the Cheshire County League.

The vistors batted first and amassed 366 for the loss of four wickets as the Grappers bowlers toiled in the heat.
They used seven bowlers but none could do much to stem the flow of runs.
When Grappers batters it was a different story, however, and they could only muster 90 runs.
The result left the Broad Lane club even more firmly stuck at the bottom of the division one table – a disappointing position for a club which only last summer was playing in the premier division.
In division three, Warrington also lost heavily,
Batting first against Over Peover they were all out for 135, John Lewis, 30 and Aamir Ali, 28, being the only batsmen to offer much resistance.
The village side hit off the runs for the loss of just one wicket, despite Warrington using seven bowlers.

Lymm Oughtrington Park won by three wickets in the Cheshire League, after dismissing Barnton for 176. Spaven, Rafique and Adwell took three wickets each.
Lymm replied with 180-7 with the bulk of the runs coming from Kelly, 41 and Brown, 45.
Appleton went down by five wickets against Trafford Metrovics.
Amir Aslam top scored with 51 not out when Appleton batted first and were all out for a disappointing 121.
Mansoor Safi bowled well to take 3-34 when Metrovics batted, but the Trafford side coasted to 122-5 to take the points.
Glazebury suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Winsford, who h it 321-7 despite Ben Marote’s 4-48. Glazebury were all out for 138, Andy Calvert top-scoring with 33.
