BUDDING young rugby players from Warrington RUFC Under 10s enjoyed their first rugby tour experience.
The U10 team, which is sponsored by local property partner, X-Press Legal Services, enjoyed a two-night tour of north Wales, enjoying their sport alongside some outdoor pursuits.
Twenty two boys and more than 30 parents and siblings, took part in the weekend long tour which was organised by the team’s coach Dave Evans to celebrate the end of their playing season.
Staying at Bangor University, the action-packed weekend included two rugby matches and a tournament against Welsh teams – Mold, Bethesda, Pwllheli and Llangefni. The Warrington U10s team played incredibly well throughout and were thrilled with their all-round performance against talented Welsh opponents.
Keen to expand the youngsters’ wider skills-set, the team also travelled to Anglesey for an afternoon of coasteering. This adrenaline fuelled activity was invented in Wales and involves traversing the coastline through swimming, cliff jumping and rock climbing. The boys had an incredible time trying out this exciting new activity and all came away having learned new skills on the water.
Russ Welch, owner of X-Press Legal Services said: “Taking the team on their first rugby trip was a fantastic way to close out the playing season while also setting them in good stead to progress as rugby players by emulating the tour experience.
“As the team’s sponsor it has been wonderful to witness how much the boys have improved over the past year. Their playing skills have significantly developed alongside their understanding of sportsmanship and general cohesion as a team.
“We are all incredibly proud of how the team represented their club and Warrington while away. The tour was a well-deserved end of season treat for everyone involved and an experience which I’m sure the boys will never forget!”
Warrington RUFC is based at Grappenhall Village Sports Club and welcomes young players from age 4 upwards. More information can be found at www.warringtonrufc.co.uk
